Visualization: Heat Map

Learn about INSIA's Heat Map Visualization feature.

Updated over a week ago

The heat map is a representation when two dimensions categorize a single metric data.

For example, you want to see the Spend value of Business Unit Level 1 and Category level 1.

Note: This is on sample procurement data. We don't set any taxonomies and INSIA will only read column names from your data. If you call 'Spend' as 'Expense', 'Expense' will show on the search bar. You can find the sample data by going to the top right corner of the platform and switching to 'Demo Mode'. There you can select 'Procurement' to see a similar visualization as below.

Heat maps work by dividing the graph into a table. The Y-axis represents Business Unit Level 1 (dimension 1) and the X-axis represents Category level 1 (dimension 2). Spend (metric) value is presented through cells. The color intensity of each cell defines the value, which means the darker the color, the higher the value. (See the figure below)

On the Heat map, you can use all features:

  • Setting alerts

  • Performing drill-downs

  • Generating i360 reports
