How does Billing work?

Learn how to calculate the subscription fee, add a payment method, and find your paid or active invoices.

Updated over a week ago

We know you love INSIA and have enjoyed analyzing data like never before. πŸ˜„

Well, all good things have a price tag. We want you to pay only for what you use. That is why INSIA comes with a usage-based pricing model. We ensure that INSIA is heavy on insights but not on your pockets πŸ˜‰

We use Search and Events to calculate your usage.

In this article, we are going to explain the followings -

  • What is an Event?

  • What is a Search?

  • How do we Bill you? What is your Billing cycle?

  • What are the different subscription plans?

  • Where can you see your invoices?

  • How can you add your payment method?

What is an Event?

An event is a single row of data added, updated, or loaded in INSIA every time the data load happens. The number of events varies basis the load type, whether it appends or truncates.

If the data load type is Append (incremental data is loaded), the Event count would be the Sum of the total rows loaded in INSIA and the number of rows updated in INSIA.

If the data load type is Truncate (entire data is loaded repeatedly), the Event count would be the total number of rows in the table loaded in INSIA.

What is a Search?

A search is a request that INSIA runs to get answers to your data questions. The number of searches varies based on the activity performed on INSIA.

If you search on the Search bar - it amounts to 1 search every time INSIA gives an output.

Each chart in an i360 report amount to 1.5 Searches. If you do an i360 (Automated AI generated report on performance deviation), it amounts to searches between 5 to 45 as each i360 report's maximum charts count is limited to 30.

Each chart in a data story amounts to 0.8 Searches. If you create a data story (Report/Dashboard) with 10 Charts, you will use 8 Searches. Every time you open that data story, it will count as 8 searches.

If you create an Alert, each alert results in the consumption of 30 Searches.

How do we Bill you?

We maintain a very transparent billing cycle from the first of every month to the last date of every month. INSIA bills you in advance. For example, for using the platform for December, your invoice would be created on the 1st of December and need to be paid by the 10th of December for uninterrupted usage.

Also, we use Stripe as our Payment gateway, and it will try for 3 successive days to bill you if in case the first attempt is unsuccessful.

INSIA billing depends on your Monthly Search and Events bracket. By clicking on the top right icon of the INSIA application, you can check how many events and searches you have consumed in a month.

You can go to the billing page by clicking Billing in the nav bar or the Admin Home page.

The billing section is divided into four tabs. Each tab caters to different parts of Billing.

What are the different subscription plans?

The first tab details your current subscription plan. On the top, you would be able to see whether you are on the Lite, Growth, or Enterprise plan. It will also show your current subscription plan's total monthly events and searches.

INSIA continuously updates your searches and events, and you can see your current usage under the Events and Searches tiles. It also shows the month's total assigned or allocated Searches and Events.

Lite Subscription Plan

The Lite Plan allows you to add events and searches on an ad-hoc level. Think of it as Top-ups. Moreover, these events and searches are not time bound and are available to you until they lapse. Also, your monthly limit would be exhausted first before getting into top-ups.

Pushed Insights is not available for the Lite plan. You will have to upgrade to Growth Plan to use the feature.

Growth Subscription Plan

The Growth Plan allows you to change monthly events and searches as and when you want. By clicking on Change Plan, you can also change your plan mid Billing cycle, and the total allocated searches and events will prorate accordingly. (Available for Growth Users). You can choose Searches and Events on the slider, and automatically you will be able to see your monthly subscription fees.

From this page, you can activate the "Pushed Insights" feature of INSIA (available only for Growth users). Please note that the Pushed Insights feature uses AI to create automated insights, which are pushed directly to you proactively. This requires a lot of computing, and its activation would substantially increase your subscription fees.

You also have the option to change your Billing cycle (available only for Lite and Growth Users) from Monthly to Yearly. Please note that once adjusted to Yearly, it cannot be reverted to the monthly plan until the billing year ends.

Where can you see your invoices?

You can access all your current, past, and open invoices on the second tab on the billing page.

At the top, you can see the date your bill would be generated. Also, the amount to be paid. If you need any support, you can email support@forty4hz.com or click on the support button.

Our billing cycle runs from the 1st of the month to the last date of the month. You will have the option to view or download your past invoices.

If in case you have an open Invoice, you will see a "Pay Now" button. You can click on that and enter your payment details to make the payment.

How can you add your payment method?

You can add your payment method by clicking on the top right button on the Payment methods tab.

Once you click the "Add a Payment Method," a box requesting credit card details will pop up. It will show the same Email ID you used to login into your INSIA account. You will have to enter the Credit Card details in the pop-up.
